Kings way is today known as Rajpath and it is the ceremonial boulevard in New Delhi where every year you can witness the Republic day and parade. The parade sees a huge turn out every year and the importance of this parade has only grown increasingly over the years.
Rajpath is treated as one of the most important roads not just in Delhi but entire India. The road runs into east west direction and prominent upscale centers have connectivity through Rajpath especially Connaught place which is the financial center of Delhi.
On the North and South block of the Rajpath road after you scale the Raisina hill, you will see the Secretariat building. The road crosses Sansad marg when it reaches Vijay Chowk. It is at Rajpath road you will find one of the most important and well occupied monuments and historical building that’s operational with all the affairs and important delegataries making decisions or fighting to decide what’s best for the country- The Parliament house. The house marks the largest democracy governed here in India. The Parliament house was intended to be part of the Rashtrapati bhavan but it ended up being India’s parliament instead according to the announcement made under the Montague-Chelmsford reform. Designed by Herbert baker, the parliament house was earlier known as the circular house.Inaugurated by Lady Irwin the parliament house houses beautiful gardens and fountains that add to the charm of the building.

You can reach the parliament house easily by availing a taxi or rickshaw from different parts of Delhi city. A dome, three circular chambers, Lok sabha in the lower house and Rajya Sabha in the upper house make the Building a place worth visiting in Delhi. Permission and pass is required to be carried to even enter the compounds of the secretariat building.
In the recent years Parliament house had witnessed terrorist attacks creating panic in the capital and increasing security in Rajpath area. Rajpath road is also used for funeral processions. On Republic day you will find solder from the defense forces parading and marching in tandem. The cultural diversity of India is showcased with artists and performers performing while they march away
Rajpath is home to prominent buildings and landmarks. The official residence of the president of India- Rashtrapathi Bhavan, The secretarial building in the North and South block, a spacious plaza called Vijay chowk beating the retreat ceremony, the war memorial arch in honor of those who died fighting for the country- India gate are some of the landmark structures that make Rajpath a place worth stopping by.
The view of Rajpath from Raisina hill with India gate on the other end is a sight to behold. The breadth of the road leading to India gate is stupendous and it is lined with well-maintained lawns, canals and trees.
