Land of distinguished politicians Don Stephen Senanayake, Sir Baron Jayathilake,, Charles Edgar Corea and more, Chilaw Sri Lanka is distinguished place and is home to some of the prestigious institutions especially The Royal College, Colombo. The place is known for the ever famous Charles Edgar Cornea who belonged to a wealthy family that owned a large spread of coconut estate, paddy lands and more. Chilaw is worth visiting for mainly understanding and learning the history and the great leaders of Chilaw who served during the Dutch and Portuguese rule in Chilaw –Srilanka. Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Chilaw was his maiden visit and the last visit too. This one time trip built a quintessential relationship between the Mahatma and Corea who were very good friends. In 1927, Srilanka was known as Ceylon, C.E.Corea and Victor Corea arranged for Gandhi to stay in “Sigiriya” aCorea home.

    • The beach is about a kilometer away from the temple. It will make for a good walk
