Situated in close distance to the Mahveli River in Badulla district, Mahiyangana Sri Lanka is a town of several mythological beliefs. The town was believed to be visited by Lord Buddha to settle a fight between the Yakkas and Nagas on a full moon Poya day in the month of January. There were Chethiyas built and the first one had Lord Buddha’s hair relic deposited which was given so people would pray and worship. The Chethiyas attract several pilgrims especially Buddhist believers form across the globe.
