Appearing like a sea of milk the beautiful Dudhsagar waterfall has been rightly named so and literally means sea of milk. This four tiered waterfall is a major place of attraction for tourists in MandoviRiver in the Indian state of Goa. Located at a 60 kilometer distance form Panaji by road the fall is located in Madgaon- Belgaum train route. The Dudhsagar waterfall is India’s tallest waterfall. The fall has a height of 310 meter and its width is 30 meters.
Tourists can head to Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary and Mollem national park amongst the WesternGhats and make a visit to the waterfall. Dudhsagar draws the border line between Karnataka and Goa. The surrounding area around the Dudhsagar waterfall is rich in Bio-diversity and comprises of a thick covering of deciduous forests.

A modest and virtuous princess was served milk in a pure gold jug while the princess was bathing in lake amidst the mountains. The surrounding of the lake was picturesque. Once a prince came by the lake and to avoid being seen by a stranger the princess poured the sugared milk in the lake to hide herself from prying eyes. This tale or myth is believed to be the reason for the Dudhsagar waterfall to appear as white as milk.
